
Samuel Jones Selected for U.S. Under-19 Men’s Youth National Team Training Camp

The freshman from Portsmouth, Va., is the only college player selected for the training camp that will take place April 22-May 1.
CHICAGO -- Wake Forest men's soccer freshman Samuel Jones has been named to the U.S. Under-19 Men's Youth National Team training camp which will take place April 22-May 1at the Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif., U.S. Soccer announced on Thursday.
Jones will be one of 33 players that will participate in the 10-day camp and was the only collegiate player that was selected.
All 33 players are also age-eligible for this summer's 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship in Honduras, which serves as qualification for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2024 Olympics.
"I am truly honored to be selected as one of the 33 players for the U-19 Men's Youth National Team and represent Wake Forest while competing alongside some of the best young talent in the country," Jones said.
Jones was a mid-year enrollee at Wake Forest, joined by Cooper Flax and Alec Kenison. He arrived at Wake Forest following time with the Philadelphia Union Academy and he also has prior national team experience at the U-17 and U-20 levels. This year's incoming recruiting class is currently ranked No. 2 nationally by TopDrawerSoccer.
Over the last seven seasons, the Demon Deacons have amassed more wins (115) than any other NCAA Men's Soccer Division I program and are tied for the most consecutive Sweet Sixteen appearances at seven. Additionally, Wake Forest holds the longest streak of NCAA Tournament selections in the ACC at 11 years.
