Coach da Luz Announces 2022 Schedule

Wake Forest is slated to play 10 of its 20 games at iconic Spry Stadium.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Mark your calendars, Deacon Nation! Head coach Tony da Luz and the Wake Forest women's soccer team officially announced its 2022 fall schedule Thursday.
The Deacs' 2022 slate consists of two exhibitions, eight non-conference and 10 Atlantic Coast Conference matches. Wake Forest is scheduled to play 10 games at iconic Spry Stadium.
"I am excited about hosting 10 games at Spry this fall," said head coach Tony da Luz. "We have strong regional non-conference opponents Milwaukee, Rhode Island, Georgia and Auburn coming to Winston-Salem. Our ACC home schedule is also challenging with Clemson, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Miami and Notre Dame visiting Spry Stadium. Our schedule has competitive balance and gives us strong preparation for the postseason. I hope our fans will come out and support this fantastic 2022 team!"
2022 Schedule Breakdown
For the third-straight season, Wake Forest will open the year at home as the Deacons are set to host Milwaukee on Thursday, Aug. 18. The match begins a string of eight non-conference matches.
The Deacs hold a 15-5-1 record all-time in season openers.
Wake Forest then welcomes Rhode Island on Thursday, Aug. 21, before hosting Georgia (Aug. 25) for the first time since 2015 in a Thursday showdown. It will be the ninth meeting between the two programs.
The Deacs will then round out its non-conference home slate, welcoming Auburn (Aug. 28) to Winston-Salem.
Wake Forest's last four non-conference matches will come on the road, starting on Thursday, Sept. 1, when the Demon Deacons travel to High Point, N.C. to face the Panthers. It will mark the fourth all-time meeting with High Point.
To wrap up the non-conference schedule, Wake Forest will travel to Oakland (Sept. 4), Maryland (Sept. 8) and Loyola-Maryland (Sept. 11).
The Deacs open conference play on the road at NC State (Sept. 16). Wake Forest will stay home for three consecutive conference games, hosting Clemson (Sept. 22), Virginia Tech (Sept. 25) and Syracuse (Sept. 30).
Wake Forest will take a road trip to Duke (Oct. 6) before Miami (Oct. 9) comes to Spry stadium, then the Deacs head to North Carolina (Oct. 14) during the final month of the regular season.
The Demon Deacons will close out the month of October with a road match to Virginia (Oct. 20) before returning home to host Notre Dame (Oct. 23). The Deacs round out the regular season with a trip to Boston College (Oct. 27).
The ACC Tournament begins with the quarterfinals at the campus locations on October 30 with the semifinals and championship at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, NC (Nov. 4-6).

Recent Success
During the 2021 campaign, Wake Forest made the 21st NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, reaching the second round for the 15th time. The Deacs recorded 12 shutouts last season, tying the most since 2017 and limited opponents to a combined 17 goals, a new program record for the fewest goals allowed in a single season.
Wake Forest set a new record for most consecutive shutouts when they began the season with eight consecutive shutouts.
Through 22 games, Wake Forest scored 43 goals which is the most goals a Wake Forest team has scored since 2011 (52).
All-American Kaitlyn Parks
Kaitlyn Parks, a redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper, is the first Wake Forest player since 2011 to earn All-America recognition and became the third to be named to the Second Team.
A standout from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, Parks led a young Wake Forest backline by starting 20 of the 22 matches. Parks earned 14 wins with nine clean sheets, tied for the second-most in program history and 15th most in the nation. Parks earned a 0.78 goals against average, giving her the third best goals against average in a single season in program history. She posted a .795 save percentage with 58 saves on 183 shots faced.
