The reigning ACC Champions will be the No. 3 seed in the region with play set to begin on Monday, May 16.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Wake Forest men's golf team was selected to the New Haven NCAA Regional Wednesday, as announced on Golf Channel.

The nationally-ranked Demon Deacons, who recently won their 19th ACC Championship, will be the No. 3 seed in New Haven, Conn.

Each regional will be played May 16-18 and consist of 13 or 14 teams and 10 or five individuals (not from those 13 or 14 teams).  The top five teams and one individual (not from a top-5 team) from each regional will advance to the National Championship at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 27-June 1.

The Deacs will be looking to ride their momentum off their ACC-best 19th conference championship, as they defeated Georgia Tech, 3-2, in the finals on April 25.

The Demon Deacons return four of the five lineup players who competed in the postseason a season ago. They are led by sophomore Michael Brennan and senior Alex Fitzpatrick who are both currently ranked inside of the top 20 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings.

Last season, Wake Forest was placed in Cle Elum, Wash. where the team placed third to advance to the 46th NCAA Championship in program history, the most of any school in the ACC.

From Coach Haas

"It's going to be a good region with a lot of ACC teams. We have played well there before with all four individuals finishing within the top four. We have won the Yale Intercollegiate, but it can also be a very tricky place to play. We have to be ready to go. The weather will be a factor and knowing the course like I do course management will be very important. The toughest teams mentally will get out and advance to Arizona." - Head Coach Jerry Haas

Elite Golf School

With both the men's golf and women's golf winning the conference title this season, it is also the fourth time in Atlantic Coast Conference history that the women's and men's Championship was won by the same school. The women's golf team defeated Florida State 3-1-1 last week for their second title in four years.

With the Demon Deacon women's golf team qualifying last year for the NCAA Championships, Wake Forest is one of just three schools in the nation to have both their men's and women's programs qualify for the NCAA Championships during the last two events (Arizona State and Texas).

In the 2019 NCAA Championship, the men and women's programs advanced to match play. Wake Forest was one of just three schools to have both programs move on to the match play portion of the Championship.

All-Time NCAA Championship Appearances

Wake Forest is 11th in the country and has the highest total in the ACC with 46 NCAA Championship appearances in program history.
