Omar Hernandez Named to 2022 ACC Preseason Watch List

The senior midfielder concluded an All-ACC campaign in 2021 collecting 13 points off five goals and three assists.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest men's soccer senior Omar Hernandez has been named to the 2022 ACC Preseason Watch List, the league announced on Tuesday.
Hernandez is coming off a 2021 season in which he started all 18 of his appearances to record five goals and three assists for 13 points.
He scored the game-winning goal in the Demon Deacons' 2-0 victory over Bucknell on Aug. 29 and recorded his third career brace in a 4-0 victory over William & Mary on Oct. 5. The Dalton, Ga., native concluded his junior season with the opening goal in a 3-0 victory over Virginia in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. Wake Forest was 6-0-1 when Hernandez recorded at least one point.
He was named an All-ACC Third-Team selection and a United Soccer Coaches Third-Team All-South Region honoree.
For his collegiate career to date, Hernandez has appeared in 59 matches to score 12 goals with six game-winning strikes and nine assists.
Wake Forest, ranked No. 15 in the preseason United Soccer Coaches poll, opens the regular season on Thursday, Aug. 25 hosting UCF at Spry Stadium in a nationally televised matchup.
