Wake Forest continues a four-match homestand to open the 2022 season, hosting Rhode Island.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest women's soccer will close out the opening weekend of the 2022 season hosting Rhode Island in a Sunday night showdown at Spry Stadium.
Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. and the match will air on ACC Network Extra.

Sunday's match will be the End of Summer Bash and Triad Night. The first 50 fans in attendance will receive free Kona Ice and 100 fans will also receive a voucher to claim a Wake Forest bucket hat. Halftime contests will also take place.

New to the ticketing menu this year are five and 10 game FLEX options, giving fans maximum flexibility when choosing which home games to attend. FLEX season ticket members will simply open their digital FLEX account, and add or remove games as they decide which dates they are available to attend. Members may even use multiple admissions for a single game to bring a friend, family member or guest with them. If more FLEX tickets are needed, additional admissions may be purchased through the Wake Forest Ticket Office. FLEX admissions are able to be used for redemption at both men's and women's soccer games.

The Matchup

Sunday's match marks the second-ever meeting between Wake Forest and Rhode Island, with the first coming on Sept. 15, 1996 in a 3-2 victory for the Deacs.

Wake Forest dominated in the side's opening match of the 2022 season on Thursday night, defeating Milwaukee by a final of 2-0.

The Demon Deacons secured the would-be game-winning goal just minutes into the match as freshman forward Hannah Johnson netted her first career goal in the fifth minute.

Sophomore midfielder Emily Morris logged the assist on Johnson's goal before striking herself in the 54th minute. It was also her first collegiate goal.

The victory was witnessed by a student crowd of 813, setting a new record for Wake Forest women's soccer student attendance mark at a match.

Rhode Island dropped its season opener on Thursday night, falling to NC State by a final of 4-0.

Parks Picks Up Where She Left Off

Coming off an All-American performance in 2021 in which she tallied nine clean sheets, redshirt junior goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks opened her 2022 campaign with her 13th career shutout.

The Upper Marlboro, Md., native recorded two saves against Milwaukee.

Parks was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy preseason watch list, an annual award given to the top collegiate soccer player in the country.

She was one of 60 players named to the list and the only goalkeeper from the ACC.
Scouting The Rams

Rhode Island was picked to finish in ninth place in the preseason A-10 poll, earning just one less vote than eighth place Richmond.

During the 2021 season the Rams earned five A-10 victories, marking the highest conference win total in a single season for the program since 2007.

Senior forward Brooke Cavino led the team in scoring for a second-straight season, as she paced the Rams in shots (29), shots on goal (14), points (10) and goals (4).
