Sam Hartman’s big-play target last Saturday vs. No. 5 Clemson was sophomore Jahmal Banks as he hauled in six passes for 141 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomore wide receiver Jahmal Banks was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wide Receiver of the Week after his standout performance on Saturday against No. 5 Clemson, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Banks hauled in six passes for a career-high 141 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
With his pair of first-half touchdown receptions, the Washington, D.C. product became the first Wake Forest wide receiver to catch at least two touchdown passes in back-to-back games since at least 1996, and is believed to be the only Demon Deacon to accomplish this feat.
Banks has now caught five TDs this season, all coming at Truist Field, with one against VMI, two vs. Liberty and two against Clemson last Saturday. Additionally, Banks has 15 catches this season for 238 yards with an average of 15.9 yards per reception.
As a team, Banks has helped Wake Forest's offense set a new scoring record with 171 points through four games. The 45 points that the Deacs tallied last Saturday marked their highest total against the Tigers since Nov. 1, 2003 (45 points) and the most points Clemson has allowed since Nov. 7, 2020 at Notre Dame.
