Hanks and Brown Garner ACC Yearly Honors

Sophomore forward Caiya Hanks was tabbed Second Team All-ACC.
CHARLOTTE – Sophomore forward Caiya Hanks and freshman defender Dempsey Brown of the Wake Forest women's soccer team garnered ACC yearly accolades Wednesday evening, as announced by the league office.
Hanks, a product of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, collected Second Team All-ACC honors after tallying a team-high 16 points during the 2023 campaign. The star forward led the Demon Deacons in goals (six), shots (40) and shots on goal (18), while ranking second in assists (four).
With her nod, Hanks became the 28th player in program history to receive Second Team accolades, while becoming the first to do so since Madison Hammond in 2019.
Hanks' Development
Brown, a native Winter Park, Fla., was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team after starting in 16 of Wake Forest's 18 games and playing the full 90 minutes in 12 matches.
Brown and Wake Forest's defense allowed just 15 goals all season, which set a new program record by two goals allowed (2021). Of note, the Deacs earned eight shutouts during the 2023 season.
Individually, Brown led all freshmen on the team with 1,355 minutes played.
