WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 2 Wake Forest women's golf team has traveled to New Providence, Bahamas for the Nexus Collegiate, hosted by the No. 16 Auburn Tigers. This is the first international event for the Deacs since the spring of 2019 and includes eight of the top 25 teams in the country.
Top Two
The Deacs are coming off a successful fall season with two team titles and three second place finishes in their five team events. The team also won their first event of the spring, taking the title at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla. last week. The team's opening round score of 268 (-20) was the lowest team 18-hole score in program history and the lowest team 18-hole score in relation to par in program history. The final team score for the event of 42-under-par 822 are both the second-lowest team 54-hole scores in program history and also sit in the top 5 in NCAA history.
Wake Forest started their fall season in September at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in Minnesota, where they won the team title for the second time in three outings. The team followed that win up with a win at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate where they shot their lowest team score of the fall, a 21-under 831.
Wake Forest started October finishing first in the stroke play portion of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup but fell in the championship match to No. 1 Stanford. The Deacs closed out the fall season with two more events in October, the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invite and the Landfall Tradition, both in North Carolina. Wake finished second in both events.
The Roster's Last Time Out
Wake Forest led all teams in scoring on par four and par fives while recording 60 birdies and 189 pars throughout the UCF Challenge. Rachel Kuehn had a team-high 17 birdies. Lauren Walsh was close behind with 14.
Walsh turned in a perfect scorecard with zero bogeys in her final round. Walsh had four birdies, two of which back back-to-back to end her round and put her at four under on the day and 12 under for the event.
Kuehn led the team at 15 under for the event. Her final round consisted of four birdies, three of which came on her second nine holes and all of which came after her only bogey of the round. Carolina Chacarra also only had one bogey on her final 18 holes, finishing the day two under and eight under for the event. Kuehn, Walsh and Chacarra all finished inside the top 15.
Emilia Migliaccio rounded out the Deacs inside the top 20, with an even-par round on the final day to keep her at five under for the tournament. After a tough start with two bogeys on her first four holes, she had three birdies in a row on her second nine holes.
Mimi Rhodes improved each day of play, shooting two under in her final round to finish two under for the event. After cracking the top 40 after the second round, her three birdies in her final round helped her crack the top 32 by the end of the tournament.
Playing as an individual at the UCF Challenge, freshman Anne-Sterre den Dunnen had her best day on the final day, shooting two under with back-to-back birdies on the 13th and 14th holes.
The Nexus Collegiate will the season debut for junior Caroline Smith, who will be playing as an individual along with den Dunnen.
Wake Forest will be paired with Auburn and Oklahoma State off the first tee in nine-minute intervals beginning at 7:54 a.m. ET. Den Dunnen will tee off the first hole at 7:45 and Smith will go off the 10th hole at 9:06.

- Designed by Ernie Els, Albany's 18-hole championship golf course combines the best of links and desert features with windswept dunes and challenging water features. With multiple sets of tees and a range of shot values, the course presents challenges for the professional golfer and avid recreational alike. Ernie Els designed the par-72, 7,309-yard golf course with five par-5s and five par-3s, with the remaining holes being par-4s. The links-style course features dunes up to 30 feet in height and has multiple teeing areas on each hole to make the course playable for golfers at every level.
- Albany hosts a variety of amateur and professional golf events throughout the year, including the Hero World Challenge. The PGA TOUR event is held every December and features an elite field of 20 of the world's top-ranked professional golfers.
