Recapping an Electric Season
The 2022-2023 women's basketball season was special in many ways, but it will go down in history as the start of the Megan Gebbia Era at Wake Forest. In her first year, Coach Gebbia became the winningest first-year head coach in program history. The season was highlighted by 12 wins at home and an appearance in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. Dedication of the Dr. Caryl Guth Women's Basketball Clubhouse
September 1, 2022
Thanks to the incredible leadership of nearly 300 loyal supporters, including alumni Dr. Caryl Guth, Chris Paul and Mit Shah, Wake Forest University dedicated the new on-campus clubhouses of women's and men's basketball student-athletes on Thursday, Sept. 1. 

The Dr. Caryl Guth Women's Basketball Clubhouse & Chris Paul Family Men's Basketball Clubhouse include new locker rooms, lounge areas, training rooms and nutrition zones for the Demon Deacons programs. These projects mark the moment of continued progress on the 4th Quarter Drive to improve upon the World Class Student-Athlete Experience provided to Wake Forest student-athletes.
Coach Gebbia Opens the Gate at Wake Forest vs. Boston College

The Open the Gate tradition has been an important and unique aspect of football games since its inception in 2008. This allows Wake Forest to honor individuals that make its University and Winston-Salem community so special. Honorees ride on the back of the motorcycle with the Demon Deacon mascot and lead the football team onto Truist Field. The first ever honoree was Wake Forest and Winston-Salem legend, Chris Paul. 

Coach Megan Gebbia received this honor during Week 8 of this year's football season when the Deacs took on Boston College.
The Demon Deacons Defeat Elon for Coach Gebbia's First Win
November 7, 2022
In the first regular season game with head coach Megan Gebbia at the helm, the Wake Forest women's basketball team defeated in-state foe Elon, 76-56, on Monday, November 7, at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The Deacs Travel to Nassau, Bahamas for the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Classic
November 18-23, 2022
This past November, the Wake Forest women's basketball team traveled out of the country for the first time since 2014. The Deacs took part in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship where they took on SEC foes Missouri and Alabama in Nassau, Bahamas.
Wake Forest Takes down Minnesota in the ACC-BIG 10 Challenge
November 30, 2022
Behind a clutch performance from junior guard Jewel Spear, the Wake Forest women's basketball team captured a 63-59 victory at Williams Arena against Minnesota as a part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

With less than 10 seconds remaining in the game, a ball screen at the top of the key freed up Spear who hit a game-winning three with 3.0 seconds remaining to lift the Deacs to a road win over the Big Ten foe.
Jewel Spear Reaches 1,000 Career Points
December 11, 2022
Junior guard Jewel Spear reached a career milestone in the Demon Deacon's December victory over the Charlotte 49ers. She became the 30th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point club. She becomes the first Wake Forest player to join the 1,000-point club since 2020-21.

The Colony, Texas native iced the game at the end as clutch free throws sealed win.
Wake Forest Defeats Pittsburgh in Coach Gebbia's First ACC Win
December 29, 2022
During Wake Forest women's basketball's New Year's Eve celebration, the team earned a 66-51 victory over ACC foe Pitt at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

This win marked the first conference win of the head coach Megan Gebbia era and improved the Demon Deacons record to a perfect 7-0 at home during 2022.

January 4, 2023
As a "Thank You" for their support, Wake Forest women's basketball hosted first ever Season Ticket Holder dinner this past January. It was the perfect time for the team to meet and get to know all their most loyal fans. The support of each fan has made the difference this year and contributed heavily to the team's success.
The Deacs Pick up Back to Back Home Wins vs. Future Elite Eight Teams Miami and Louisville
January 26 & 29, 2023
In a three day span, and backed by two explosive third quarters, Wake Forest took down two of the top teams in the nation to close out the month of January. The Deacs defeated Louisville 68-57 and Miami 55-52. Both Miami and Louisville would go on to make the Elite Eight, marking these wins as some of the most impressive all season.
Wake Forest Begins Memorable Postseason Run by Defeating Virginia in the ACC Tournament
March 1, 2023
The Wake Forest women's basketball team began post season play by defeating Virginia to earn a spot in the second round of the ACC Tournament for the fourth-consecutive season. The Deacs won by a margin of a 68-57 during a Wednesday afternoon showdown inside the Greensboro Coliseum.
The Deacs complete the Second-Largest Halftime Comeback in ACC Tournament History to Shock Florida State
March 2, 2023
In the second round of the ACC Tournament, the Demon Deacons outscored the Seminoles, 29-8, in the third quarter, erasing a second-round record 18-point halftime deficit in the process. In the midst of the quarter, the Deacs finished the quarter on an 18-0 run, which continued into the fourth quarter as the Deacs went on a 26-0 run to grab full control of the game. Prior to the run, Wake Forest trailed by 15 and by the end the Deacs were up by 11 points.
Coach Gebbia Becomes the Winningest First Year Head Coach in Program History with 26 point Win in the WNIT.
March 16, 2023
Behind an all-around team effort, with 10 Demon Deacons scoring, the Wake Forest women's basketball team booked a spot in the second round of the WNIT with a 75-49 win over Morgan State inside Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum Thursday night. 

With the victory, head coach Megan Gebbia became the winningest first-year head coach in program history.
