
Kuehn, Rhodes Lead Deacs on First Day of ACC Championships

Wake Forest enters Friday’s final round of stroke play with a five-stroke lead on the field.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team finished the first two rounds of stroke play with a five-stroke lead on the field to start postseason play. Senior Rachel Kuehn fired a 66 in her first round and junior Mimi Rhodes shot a career-low 67 in her second round to propel the Deacs to the top of the leaderboard.
Kuehn's first round consisted of four birdies, three of which came on her second nine holes, and an eagle on the par-five 18th to close out her first round. Rhodes' second round consisted of five birdies, four of which came consecutively from holes 18 through three. She also eagled the par-five 15th hole between her birdies on 10 and 18.
As a team, Wake Forest led all scoring on par fives, going 24 under par on those holes. Wake also recorded the most birdies in the field with 36. They recorded a total of 114 pars over the 36 hole-day.
Kuehn led all players in scoring on par fives, going nine under par on the eight par-fives. She is also tied for the lead with 11 birdies. Senior Lauren Walsh is tied for second with 27 pars over her 36 holes. Kuehn, Walsh and Rhodes are all inside the top 10 on the individual leaderboard.
Friday's final round of stroke play will begin at 9:00 a.m. ET with Wake Forest beginning at 9:50 on the first tee. The Deacs will be paired with Duke and Clemson. At the conclusion of Friday's round, the top four teams will advance to the match play semifinals on Saturday. Live scoring will be available via Golfstat.
