PUERTO RICO -- Following a successful international debut in March, Wake Forest men's soccer's Sidney Paris has been called up by the Puerto Rican National Team for the team's Concacaf Gold Cup action later this month.
Paris has been selected to join his teammates for an international friendly against Curaçao on June 13 in Miami before the team prepares for a Gold Cup Preliminary Stage contest against Suriname on June 16. The winner of the match between Puerto Rico and Suriname will advance to another qualifier match on June 20. The winner of that match will then go on to Gold Cup Stage action.
2023 Gold Cup Group Stage action will take place between June 24–July 4 and will feature 16 nations divided into four groups of four. The final of the tournament will take place on July 16 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
Called up for the first time by Puerto Rico in March, Paris was named to the Concacaf Nations League Best XI for League C following performances against the British Virgin Islands and the Cayman Islands.
During the 2022 season, Paris made his debut for the Demon Deacons where he tallied four assists in nearly 400 minutes of action. He came to Winston-Salem following two seasons at the Naval Academy, highlighted by a 2021 All-Patriot League first-team selection.
