Taiwo is entering his second season with the Demon Deacons and plays a vital role on head coach Bobby Muuss’ staff.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- After spending the 2022 season with the Demon Deacons as a volunteer, Wake Forest men's soccer has promoted Ade Taiwo to the role of assistant coach effective July 1, 2023.
"Over the last year, Ade has been a vital member of our Wake Forest soccer family as he's left a profound impact on and off the field for all of our student-athletes while providing transformational leadership alongside associate head coaches Steve Armas and Dane Brenner," said head coach Bobby Muuss. "His passion for coaching and desire to provide the best experience possible at this world-class institution and historic program allows us to continue to compete for championships and give back to the Winston-Salem community. I am proud to say he is joining our staff in a full-time capacity."
"I could not be more excited about being a permanent part of the staff and the Wake Forest family," Taiwo said. "My roots in Winston-Salem and Wake Forest grow stronger every day and as the time has passed all I have been able to think about is how much I do not want to leave this place. I believe in the vision that Coach Muuss and the staff have for this program, and I believe in the vision that our leaders have for our athletic department.
"I can not express enough how thankful I am to those who worked behind the scenes to make this happen and I am thankful for the relationships built with Bobby, Dane, Steve and the student-athletes. There is truly no better place to learn and grow as a mentor, coach, and person. I love what I do and I can not wait to see what we have left to accomplish together. Go Deacs!"
In Taiwo's first season with the Deacs in 2022, Wake Forest collected 14 victories and a 12th-straight berth in the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship. Wake Forest's 12 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances are third-most in the country and eight more years than any other ACC program.
Off the field, Taiwo has helped guide the program's philanthropic efforts as the team claimed the Helper Helper Team Community Service National Title last spring. That life-changing work has continued, as the Demon Deacons have logged more than 1,200 hours of community service work during the 2022-23 academic year.
Prior to his time in Winston-Salem, Taiwo spent three seasons with Wake Futbol Club serving in the role of Assistant Director of Challenge Select and Juniors.
A 2018 graduate of NC State, Taiwo was a member of the Wolfpack's men's soccer program from 2014-18 where he appeared in 54 matches, collecting 19 points on seven goals and five assists.
