This marks the second time Mark Power will participate in the Walker Cup which will be held at the historic Old Course at St. Andrews on Sept. 2-3.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – With a week and a half before the tournament, Wake Forest alumni Mark Power was named to the Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup Team, as announced Monday morning.

This marks the second time Power will participate in the Walker Cup which will be held at the historic Old Course at St. Andrews on Sept. 2-3. He along with Alex Fitzpatrick were members of the 2021 Great Britain & Ireland Team contested at Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla.

In his last appearance, Power went 3-1-0 and nearly helped Great Britain & Ireland win for the first time since 2015, winning both of his foursome matches.

The Demon Deacons have had at least one player represented at the tournament in the last four Walker Cups with Power (2023 and 2021) and Fitzpatrick (2021 and 2019) playing twice and Will Zalatoris suiting up for the United States in 2017 against teammate Paul McBride on the Great Britain & Ireland team.

Zalatoris helped the U.S. secure a 19-7 win over McBride at Los Angeles Country Club, going 3-1 including winning both of his singles matches.

Wake Forest has a rich history of players at the Walker Cup with 18 Demon Deacons taking part in the event over the years. This includes Jay Sigel who hold the U.S. record for most appearances in the event with nine and the most Walker Cup match wins in the event's history with 18.
