Hudson Garners Wuerffel Trophy Watch List Honors

The redshirt junior defensive lineman has spent countless hours giving back to the Wake Forest and Winston-Salem community during his time as a Demon Deacon.
ATLANTA – Wake Forest redshirt junior defensive lineman Jaylen Hudon has garnered Wuerffel Trophy Watch List honors, as announced by the Wuerffel Foundation Thursday.
Established in 2005, the Wuerffel Trophy honors college football players who serve others,
celebrates their impact, and inspires greater service across the nation.
The redshirt junior defensive lineman has spent countless hours giving back to the Wake Forest and Winston-Salem community during his time as a Demon Deacon.
During his time on campus, Hudson has spent his time with more than a dozen community service projects and organizations including A Bed and A Book, Santa's Helper, Skip Prossor READ Program, Pump Up For Piccolo, Wake Forest Victory Day, Wake-n-Shake, Hit The Bricks, DESK Project Pumpkin and Mystery Readers.
As an ambassador for the Skip Prossor READ Program, Hudson has logged more than 240 hours working with local 4th grade students to promote reading. He facilitates school events with his fellow student-athletes to meet and greet students to encourage participation in the program. Hudson helps plan and organize events during the summer to make the READ program more successful for the next school year as well as spearheads student-athlete volunteer opportunities in local classrooms.

Last season, Hudson played in all 13 games, making one start during the 2022 season and helping lead the team to its seventh consecutive bowl game and back-to-back bowl wins with a victory over Missouri in the Gasparilla Bowl.
He finished the season with a career-high 20 tackles including 10 solo tackles while also having a tackle for loss and forced fumble. The Fayetteville, N.C. native made first career start in the season-opening win over VMI, ending the game with a pair of tackles.
In a memorable victory, Hudson recorded a key forced fumble in the win over nationally-ranked Florida State while also tying his season high with three tackles. Additionally, he had at least one tackle in 10 of 13 games and multiple tackles in seven games while also playing a key role in several special teams units.
