Andrew Carr: My Wake Forest Story

Waaaaaaaake. Foooooooorest. Waaaaaaaake. Foooooooorest. Waaaaaaaake. Foooooooorest.
A legendary chant by the faithful Demon Deacon fans that has withstood the test of time. My name is Andrew Carr, and it has been an absolute honor to be able to be at such a prestigious school and a part of some amazing history in the basketball program. If there is anything that I have learned in my time here, it is not necessarily about what you know, but rather who you know. Luckily, I have experienced a built-in family with Coach Forbes and his staff that have done an amazing job of supporting me and putting me in positions to be successful on and off the court.
One of the coolest things that I have experienced with Coach Forbes is how he often hires his former players. Knowing that, paired with me wanting to stay around basketball after I am done playing, gives me great confidence that I will be working with and around some of these wonderful people I have met in my time here at Wake Forest. I am also beyond grateful for the world class facilities that are available here. Just last year, the Chris Paul Family Clubhouse (can barely call it a locker room) was officially built and has been an absolute game changer for us. Having a space like that has allowed me to have somewhere to go in between classes and a spot to hangout and mess around with my teammates, building that chemistry you see on the court every day. It is not only just the staff and people around basketball that have enhanced my experience here, but also the teachers and student body.
Something that is unique about Wake Forest is its size. As an athlete, it is such a cool experience having smaller classes where all your classmates know and support you along with your teachers. It is not often you are able to build relationships with people in the student body at larger schools, in addition to being able to encourage and influence them to come out and get behind us all when we compete. Deciding to come to Wake Forest has completely changed my life for the better and there isn't a better full package experience you will find in a school across the country.
