From my official visit April 28,2023, I felt a feeling of comfort and sense of belonging. The Wake Forest campus has such an artistic vibe and beautiful sense of community. My official visit automatically became a unanimous decision to attend Wake Forest University for my career as a student-athlete. Wake Forest checked off all the boxes for my final decision for my collegiate career. I am blessed beyond measure to receive a scholarship from Wake.
The environmental embrace of the students, professors, faculty, classmates, teammates, coaches and community definitely sealed the deal for me that I made the right choice to spend the rest of my academic career here at Wake. The support of the academic and athletic community here in Winston Salem is wonderful.
I moved in on June 9 to attend summer sessions and the excitement has continued ever since. I instantly began bonding with new teammates and faculty for the summer sessions. Culture and community are very important to me, and the academic center and basketball program have displayed excellent support for me.
I came to Wake as a second-time transfer, making me not immediately eligible to play. We worked tremendously hard for many months to get my waiver approved. What could have been a stressful time turned out to be a blessing! My teammates all encouraged me, prayed for me and never once did I feel a sense of loneliness because of the emotional support and faith given to me from my teammates. Every day they made me feel like a normal player and active part of the team. I worked hard to show my skillset and support my teammates and was honored to become a team captain of my guys.
I love the campus and academic support that I receive from the faculty and staff on and off the court. The educational environment here at Wake is curated for success in the classroom community. I am a student-athlete and my academics come first before basketball. The Wake Forest staff creates a connection of academic success from the moment you walk in your first class. The sense of belonging as a new student is second to none.
Wake Forest gave me the opportunity to be closer to home and have my family and friends come to the games to support me; something I did not have at my previous schools on a regular basis. I have seen tremendous growth within myself in such a short period of time here at Wake Forest being able to see my family and stay connected mentally and emotionally. Having my teammate Hunter Sallis here is like a double blessing. He and I played together at Gonzaga and having him here has definitely helped my transition to Wake Forest be an easier one. I am truly thankful and grateful to be accepted here at Wake Forest. It has turned out to be the best decision of my academic career. Go Deacs!
