  • Known to many as one of Wake Forest's best all-time athletes, those in attendance on Friday night will witness the legendary Curtis Strange ride with the Deacon on the motorcycle ahead of the Wake Forest vs California game on Nov. 8, 2024 inside Allegacy Stadium.
  • Prior to beginning his career at Wake Forest, Strange claimed two separate VSGA Junior Amateur Championships, in 1970 and 1972 respectively. In 1974, the Norfolk, Va. native helped the Deacons to back-to-back NCAA Championships in 1974 and 1975 while also claiming an individual NCAA championship title in 1974.
  • While at Wake Forest, Strange earned the title "Brutus", a nickname upheld by his three All-American selections as well as his unique style of play. The Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame inductee joined the PGA tour following his junior season, after becoming the youngest recipient of Wake Forest's Arnold Palmer Award.
  • During his time on the Tour, Strange collected 17 victories and played a total of 598 events, including two U.S. open titles in 1988 and 1989. With his two back-to-back victories, Strange became just one of seven others that have successfully defended their titles.
  • After retiring from professional play, Strange served as an on-course reporter for FOX Sports and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2007 and the Virginia Golf Hall of Fame in 2016.
Men's and Women's Golf Reunions
Both the men's and women's golf teams prepare to host their Reunion Weekend on Nov. 8-10. The men's golf team will also be hosting a 50th anniversary celebration of the back-to-back 1974 and '75 NCAA Championship teams.

In the first quarter of Friday's ACC contest, the '74 & '75 Championship teams will be recognized on the field as part of their 50th anniversary celebration.

That weekend will feature athletics facility tours and an alumni tailgate ahead of the Wake Forest football game versus California on Friday night. There will also be a 'Putts & Pancakes' brunch on Saturday morning that is hosted and run by Wake Forest Sports Properties partner, Roll The Quad. For more information on that event, click here.

1998 & 1999 ACC Baseball Championship Reunion
Nearly 75 former teammates and family members of the 1998 and '99 ACC Baseball will be back in DEACTOWN to celebrate the 25-year reunion of their accomplishments and be recognized at the end of the first quarter of Friday's contest against Cal.

In 1998, Left-handed pitcher Danny Borrell held the Seminoles to three runs on six hits in a complete game as he led Wake Forest to a 6-2 victory over Florida State for the Demon Deacons' first ACC Championship since 1977.

First baseman Jon Palmieri belted an RBI double in the first inning as Wake Forest quickly got a 1-0 lead. Palmieri led the Demon Deacons with a .438 batting average on the season.

Catcher Andrew Riepe added three RBIs including a two-run single in the fifth inning to all but put the game away.

In 1999, Wake Forest set a then single-season mark for wins with 44 while capturing its ninth straight Atlantic Coast Conference tourney victory - one shy of the league record set by Georgia Tech in the mid-1980s.

The Deacs rallied with nine unanswered runs while getting some clutch relief pitching from David Bush in a 9-5 victory over Clemson in the tournament title game.

Bush allowed just one hit over the final 5.1 innings, striking out six.

Left fielder Matt Price launched his fourth home run of the season to help the Deacs clinch the title.

Riepe was named MVP after a 3-for-5 effort with a pair of runs scored.

Men's XC ACC Championship Recognition
The Wake Forest's men's cross country team claimed the 2024 Atlantic Coast Conference Championship, marking the program's sixth title and the 58th overall ACC Championship for Wake Forest athletics.

The Deacs will be recognized for their efforts in the first quarter of Friday's contest.

All of the Demon Deacons' top-five spread garnered All-ACC honors by finishing in the top 21, the only team in the field to accomplish this.

With four Demon Deacons placing in the top 15 and six finishing in the top 50, the 2024 ACC Cross Country Champions surged ahead of No. 5 Stanford accumulating a total of 60 points in the 8k.

In 2022, three-time USTFCCCA Southeast Region Cross Country Coach of the Year, John Hayes led the squad to their first ACC Championship Title since 1994. Hayes earned his second Championship Title in three years on Friday.

Exceptional talent Luke Tewalt became the fourth Wake Forest runner in program history to earn All-ACC honors on three separate occasions and the first since his former teammate Zach Facioni.

Tewalt stole the show, smashing his personal best of 23:06.9 with a seventh-place finish, clocking 22:39.0. Tewalt's performance surpassed his 12th-place finish and time of 23:31.9 at the 2023 ACC Championships.

As the highest-finishing freshman in his first-ever collegiate 8k, JoJo Jourdon (22:40.1) captured an eighth-place finish and became the fourth Demon Deacon to garner the ACC Freshman of the Year honors in the past eight years (following teammate Charlie Sprott who received the award in 2023).

With four runners earning personal-best times in back-to-back meets, All-ACC Award Winners Charlie Sprott (22:56.1), Aidan Ross (22:57.1), and Joseph O'Brien (22:59.4) broke their personal-best times after finishing 14th, 15th, and 16th.
