WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Truist, a longstanding partner of Wake Forest University who is An Official Banking Partner of Wake Forest Athletics and the Presenting Partner of Wake Forest Women's Athletics brings Deacon Nation this weekly update from the Demon Deacons women's programs:
  • Women's Soccer:
    • Advancing to the program's first National Championship in its second-ever College Cup, the Demon Deacons closed out a memorable 2024 campaign on Monday evening. Wake Forest fell to North Carolina 1-0 in a match witnessed by more than 9,000 fans at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
    • It marked Wake Forest's 23rd appearance in the NCAA Tournament, with 22 of them coming under the helm of Tony da Luz.
    • The Demon Deacons were ranked No. 3 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll. This season, they were ranked as high as No. 2, the highest ranking in program history.
    • On Sept. 19, the Demon Deacons claimed their first-ever win over a No. 1 team as they took down Stanford, 1-0. The Deacs became the first team in NCAA history to take down a No. 1-ranked team and a No. 2-ranked team in back-to-back matches after downing No. 2 Virginia in Charlottesville on Sept. 15.
  • Women's Basketball:
    • Holding Campbell to just nine second-half points, the Demon Deacons turned a 10-point halftime deficit into a 17-point victory, defeating the Camels 63-46 last Tuesday at Lawrence Joel Memorial Coliseum.
      • Campbell was unable to convert on their final 13 attempts from the field as Wake Forest allowed just two points in the final quarter for the second time this season, also accomplishing the feat in a victory at Charlotte earlier this season. It's the fewest points given up in a quarter in program history.
    • The Deacs will open ACC play on Sunday afternoon, hosting Clemson for a 4 p.m. tip. The game will be televised nationally on the ACC Network.
  • Track & Field:
    • Following dominant first-place finishes at the Visit Winston-Salem College Kickoff and the JDL Early Bird Invitational, it was announced on Tuesday that Robbie Grace has been named ACC Performer of the Week.
    • On the opening day of the indoor campaign, the Minnesota native secured first-place, recording a strong mark of 5.86 meters in the women's long jump.
    • She followed that with two jumps over 20 feet on Sunday, coming within four inches of her Wake Forest school record.
