Cristian Escribano Returning for Sixth Season in 2025

Earning the captain’s armband each of the last two seasons, the Wake Forest graduate will return to the Demon Deacons for the 2025 campaign.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest men's soccer team captain Cristian Escribano will be returning for a sixth season with the Demon Deacons in 2025.
"I am excited to announce that I will be returning for my final season in 2025 and finish this journey with the Deacs as I pursue a Master's in Financial Technology and Analytics," Escribano said. "While last season's memory of winning the ACC Championship with my teammates is a highlight from my time here, individually I did not want my Wake Forest career to end as a result of injury and am working hard to return to the field soon."
"When Cristian went down earlier in the season it was a huge blow to the group, but he along with the other leaders brought this group together in a way I have not seen before," said head coach Bobby Muuss. "To have him back not only his football ability but his experience will be invaluable to this group."
Originally joining the program prior to the 2020 season Escribano has twice been named a team captain for the Deacs, as he has appeared in 54 matches with 51 starts to help lead Wake Forest to two Elite Eight berths, an ACC Atlantic Division trophy in 2023 and the ACC Championship in 2024.
In his 54 appearances, Wake Forest is 35-12-7 with 21 clean sheets as he has played 90 or more minutes 20 times.
During the 2023 season, Escribano earned the captain's armband for a team that won an ACC-best fifth divisional championship during the conference format as he guided a team that went undefeated in its final seven ACC regular season matches.
While his 2024 season was cut short in September after only four appearances, Escribano remained a veteran presence for the Deacs as they would go on to win the program's third ACC Championship in nine seasons and advance to the Elite Eight.
