Sallis Tabbed ACC Player of the Week

Monday marks the first ACC honor of the season for the Demon Deacons’ leading scorer.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Having helped lead his team to a pair of home victories this past week, junior guard Hunter Sallis of Wake Forest men's basketball earned his first conference recognition of the season on Monday (Feb. 26), being named Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Week, announced by the league office.
Sallis is the second Demon Deacon to be named conference Player of the Week this season, as his backcourt mate Kevin Miller earned the nod on Jan. 8.
Competing in games versus Pitt (Feb. 20) and No. 8 Duke (Feb. 24), Sallis averaged 23.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists while shooting 76.2 percent from the field and 88.9 from three-point range.
The weekend win over Duke, which resulted as Wake Forest's highest ranked victory since the 113-101 overtime win over the No. 7 Blue Devils on Feb. 25, 2020, saw Sallis explode for 29 points while making 11 of 13 field goal attempts. He additionally went 5-of-6 from three-point distance, tying a career high, and grabbed six rebounds.
Facing Pitt earlier in the week, Sallis netted 17 points on 5-of-8 shooting while making all three of his tries from outside of the arc. He added four rebounds and five assists for a well-rounded performance.
As of Feb. 26, Sallis stands third in the ACC in scoring (18.7 points per game) and fourth in field goal percentage (51.4 percent) while ranking second in minutes played (35.1/game).
In his last five games, the Omaha, Nebraska, native is averaging 22.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and shooting 66.7 percent from three-point territory.
Wake Forest is now gearing up for a week of road competition, starting with a Tuesday night (Feb. 27) meeting with Notre Dame inside Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana. The contest is set for a 9 p.m. ET start time and will be shown on ACC Network.
