RICHMOND HILL, Ga- The Wake Forest men's golf team took second place at the Inaugural Invitational at the Ford Tuesday afternoon, one of the best finishes of their season as three players ended the tournament placing inside the top ten.

The team carded their lowest score in round one, shooting for 271 (-17), and ended day one with a 12-stroke lead over the field. By the end of day one, all five players were placed within the top 15 of the leaderboard.

Freshman Kyle Haas had his best showing of his career, ending tied for third. Haas shot his best in round one, 68 (-4), and had some key moments including the Deacs' lone eagle of the tournament on the par-5 11th.

Senior Michael Brennan recorded his lowest score in round one, 67 (-5), and ended tied for third alongside Haas. For the week, Brennan and Haas turned in 54-hole scores of 209 (-7). The pair also had the Deacs two under-par scores during the final round, posting 71 (-1) Tuesday.

Junior Scotty Kennon made a total of sixteen birdies over three rounds during the tournament. In round three, Kennon hit back to back birdies on the front and back nine, and ended tied for eighth.

Kennon and Haas helped pace the Deacs in the second round, carding 70 (-2). The Demon Deacons had to finish up their second round early this morning before continuing into the third and final round.

From Coach Haas

"What a place we were treated to this week. We had a great time at Ford Field and River Club. Thanks to Georgia Southern for hosting. We didn't play great today, but some real quality shots down the stretch. We will continue to work on representing the Demon Deacons. Thanks to Chris Hurd, our host, you are a great representative of Wake Forest athletics."
