Samantha Heyison to Represent Team USA at 2024 Paralympics

The rising sophomore will compete in the shot put and discus in Paris.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Following her freshman campaign as a member of the Wake Forest track & field team, Samantha Heyison has qualified for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris, France beginning on Aug. 28 and running through Sept. 8.
"I'm honored and proud to represent Team USA at the Paris Paralympic Games," Heyison said. "I look forward to being alongside my talented teammates as we represent the Stars and Stripes on the biggest international stage in the world of sports and hopefully bring home a medal or two."
Heyison is set to compete in both the discus and shot put for Team USA next month. She was born with constricted band syndrome and started partaking in Para track and field in 2021. The Adamstown, Md.-native was a three-time high school state champion and also played soccer, softball and basketball growing up.
She made her collegiate debut at the Wake Forest Invitational on April 19, 2024 in discus and shot put after training with Wake Forest throws coach Collin Post.
"I'm so proud of Samantha," Post said. "Making the Paralympic team was her main goal this season. She put in a lot of hard work, kept pushing through when things weren't going well, trusted the process, and now she gets to represent Team USA on the biggest stage."
