KANSAS CITY, MO. -- Rising Wake Forest men's soccer senior Trace Alphin has been named to the United Soccer Coaches' Goalkeepers to Watch list, as announced by the organization. Alphin is one of five goalkeepers nationally on the list and one of two from the ACC.
Entering his fourth season with the Demon Deacons, Alphin has appeared in 55 matches with 54 starts recording 123 saves with 15 clean sheets and four combined shutouts. He has also twice been named ACC Defensive Player of the Week in his Wake Forest career.
The Raleigh, N.C., native has started every ACC match for the Deacs since 2021, recording 61 saves with eight clean sheets while helping lead the team to a 13-7-4 record in regular season conference matches during that span.
During the 2023 season, Alphin was named to the All-ACC second-team and earned United Soccer Coaches All-South Region second-team honors as he helped Wake Forest log seven clean sheets and points in each of the team's last seven conference contests en route to an ACC-record fifth division title from 2014-23.
In 2022, Alphin started all 19 of his appearances as Wake Forest earned a 13-6-0 overall record with clean sheets against seven different opponents including victories over NC State, Louisville and twice against Virginia Tech.
Debuting for the Demon Deacons in 2021, Alphin recorded more than 1,400 minutes of action as a freshman as Wake Forest advanced to the program's seventh-straight Round of 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
