In her first Curtis Cup appearance, Mimi Rhodes became the third Demon Deacon to earn the winning point for her team at the Curtis Cup.
SUNNINGDALE, England - Recent Wake Forest graduate and former women's golfer Mimi Rhodes and team Great Britain & Ireland won the 2024 Curtis Cup at Sunningdale Golf Club in Sunningdale, England.
Rhodes became the third Demon Deacon to earn the winning point for her team at the Curtis Cup, joining Rachel Kuehn (2021, 2022) and Brenda Corrie Kuehn (1998).
Kuehn was a member of the United States team that fell to GB&I, 10.5-9.5. Kuehn did not drop a match over the three-day event, and the only match Rhodes dropped was to Kuehn.
Prior to Rhodes finishing her match, GB&I had a narrow 10-9 lead. Winning four holes to overcome a three-hole deficit and halving her match led to the half-point GB&I needed to seal the team's first Curtis Cup victory since 2016.
Kuehn and former teammate Emilia Migliaccio were members of the winning USA teams in 2021 and 2022. This year marked the third consecutive Curtis Cup to feature at least two Deacs competing and a Deac earning the winning point for their respective team.
Rhodes was a three-time All-ACC honoree during her four-year career at Wake Forest and appeared in the lineup for every single event she played as a Demon Deacon. She had six top-20 finishes in eight events during the 2023-24 season, including a season-best third-place finish at the Schooner Classic in September.
At the 2024 NCAA Championships, Wake Forest was led by Rhodes, who finished T10 and earned NCAA All-America honors. Three of Rhodes' four rounds were even or under par, highlighted by her final-round two-under score of 70, the lowest single-round score for any Deac all week. Rhodes finishes her Wake Forest career with eight top 10 finishes and a career-best scoring average of 71.48 for her final season.
