On this annual day that honors Dr. King’s legacy and profound impact during the Civil Rights movement, several Demon Deacon student-athletes explained in their own words what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. means to them.
As Wake Forest Athletics continues to strive for unity and promoting equality for everyone at Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem and communities beyond, student-athletes from several programs spoke about the impact Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s social justice work has had on them.

"MLK Day is important to me because it serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality, justice, and civil rights. Dr. King's commitment to nonviolent resistance and his dedication to achieving social change through love and unity inspires me to continue advocating for fairness in all aspects of society. His vision for a world where people are judged by the content of their character, rather than the color of their skin, resonates deeply with me because respect is a personal value of myself and a part of this program's identity. This day also provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress made and recognize that there is still work to be done to ensure true equality for all. It encourages me to contribute to building a more compassionate world both on and off the field." - Jeffrey White
Women's Soccer

"MLK day is a day to remember the sacrifices thousands of Americans made fighting for their basic rights. This is a day to acknowledge the faults of our past and honor a heroic American figure." - MJ Osborne
