Four Demon Deacons finished inside the top-20

DANIEL ISLAND, S.C.- After posting their best round of the week, the nationally ranked Wake Forest men's golf team finished in a tie for second place at The Bryson Invitational on Wednesday.

Behind an 11-under final round, the Demon Deacons closed out The Bryson Invitational with a team total of 841 (-23). Wake Forest led the 15-team field in birdies, collecting 60 over three rounds.

Jakob Melin picked up his second top-5 finish of his senior season, ending in fifth place at nine-under. Melin recorded bogeys only on his first and final holes, while racking up six birdies throughout the round, three of which came consecutively on holes five through seven.

Juniors Kyle Haas and Tom Haberer both posted final round scores of 70 (-2) to find themselves tied for 12th place. Nicholas Prieto earned a top-20 finish, turning in an impressive final round highlighted by four birdies and just a single bogey.
Sophomore Jorge Hao shot his best in round three, carding a 70 (-2) to finish nine-over.

Up Next

The Demon Deacons will return next weekend for their final tournament of the fall season at the Steelwood Collegiate in Mobile, Ala. starting Saturday, October 25th.

From Coach Haas:

"That was a very good round today by the Demon Deacons, it was the hardest day yet. We played holes nine through 13 in windy conditions very well and gave us a chance at the end. I would say this was one of our better rounds this fall, and hats off to Vanderbilt they also had a very good round today. Win, lose, or draw, Coach Van and I are very happy with what we're seeing. It's always nice to throw out a two-under par 70, especially on a hard day. Go Deacs!"
