Top-Ranked Demon Deacons Climb Three Spots After 36 Holes in Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Up three spots from the previous day, the No.1-ranked Wake Forest women's golf team is in eighth place after a four-over-par showing during round two at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational at Finley G.C. in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Through 36 holes, the Deacs have tallied 31 birdies — the third-most in the field and just one shy of the lead. Additionally, Wake Forest is tied second in par-five scoring, only behind tournament leader, Auburn.
Remaining at one under par after two rounds, graduate student Morgan Ketchum carded four birdies and an even par to keep herself within the top 10 on the individual board. Senior Anne-Sterre den Dunnen matched Ketchum's even par and jumped 23 spots from the first round.
Den Dunnen highlighted her back nine with an eagle on hole 15 and totaled four birdies through the second day.
Junior Macy Pate shot her best round of two at two over par, which saw her climb nine spots up the individual leaderboard. Graduate student Casey Weidenfeld also wrapped her second round of play with a two-over-par performance and moved 11 spots from the previous day with an under-par back nine.
Going even par after the turn, sophomore Chloe Kovelesky improved her round one score by three strokes and carded four birdies during today's competition.
Final Round on Deck
The Demon Deacons will look to make their final push up the leaderboard tomorrow, with the first tee time set for 7:50 a.m. ET. The top-ranked Demon Deacons will be paired with Kentucky and Michigan.
