A highly rated talent from the state of Texas, Gallagher joins twin brother Gavin as part of Wake Forest’s 2026 recruiting class.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest men's basketball and head coach Steve Forbes have announced the addition of Gallagher Placide to the 2026 recruiting class. He is the second member of a recruiting class that ranks top-25 nationally by 247 Sports, On3 and ESPN.
The 6-10 four-star recruit joins his twin brother Gavin as part of a Wake Forest recruiting class that features three top-100 high school additions, a first for the program since 2010.
"Gallagher has tremendous positional size on the perimeter. His length and skill level immediately stood out the first time I saw him play," Forbes said. "He possesses a strong desire to improve to go along with a strong work ethic that really impressed me as I got to know him throughout the recruiting process. He is a very focused young man."
"We are so excited to have the opportunity to coach Gallagher at Wake Forest. We welcome his mom Rachel, his brother Gavin (who signed with WF) and his sister Gabi, who plays volleyball at Ole Miss to our Wake Forest Family."
One of the top recruits in the country, Placide currently ranks as the No. 56 recruit by Rivals, and No. 77 by 247 Sports. He also ranks as a top-10 recruit from the state of Texas.
Gallagher and his brother Gavin attend Faith Family Academy in Dallas, where they currently have a top-30 team ranking in the country. As a junior, he attended Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kan., as the school won 17 games.
Placide also played for AAO Flight in the Puma Pro 16 AAU Circuit.
"Gallagher has extremely versatile two-way tools," said CBS Sports Director of Basketball Scouting Adam Finkelstein. "He moves his feet extremely well, giving him a lot of defensive versatility. He guards multiple positions, is very switchable, and has a chance to be a real standout on that end of the floor. He is very skilled on the perimeter and can make plays for himself and others, while being a capable shooter."
