Hernandez Earns ACC Receiver of the Week Honors for Career Performance against Delaware

The wideout finished Saturday afternoon with five receptions, 197 receiving yards and two touchdowns. That total is the third-highest mark for a single game in program history.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Junior wide receiver Carlos Hernandez powered the Demon Deacon offense with a pair of touchdowns and a program-best 93-yard reception to ignite Wake Forest's explosive night, sparking a unit that piled up more than 577 total yards. His performance earned him ACC Receiver of the Week honors, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
 
The 2025 edition of Wake Forest football became the 11th team in program history to reach eight or more wins following a 52-14 victory over Delaware. 
 
With eight victories in 2025, the Demon Deacons stand as the winningest Power 4 program in the Carolinas. Head coach Jake Dickert also secured his eighth win in his debut season, setting a new Wake Forest record for most wins by a first-year head coach.
 
Receiver of the Week - Carlos Hernandez 
  • Junior Carlos Hernandez had another huge day offensively. The wideout finished Saturday afternoon with five receptions, 197 receiving yards and two touchdowns. That total is the third-highest mark for a single game in program history.
    • He surpassed his previous career high against the Tar Heels with 202 all-purpose yards versus Delaware.
    • After recording 181 yards against Virginia, the Alhambra, Calif., native notched the longest reception in school history with a 93-yard score Saturday.
    • Hernandez got his name on the scoreboard with a 79-yard reception for a touchdown late in the second quarter.
  • The 93-yard score against Delaware was the longest touchdown pass in program history. Additionally, the 79-yard touchdown pass marked is tied for the eighth longest in program lore:

  • Saturday's victory over Delaware secured Wake Forest's eighth victory this season. The 2025 Demon Deacons became just the 11th team in 118 years of football at Wake Forest to accomplish that feat.
  • The victory also secured Jake Dickert the winningest season in program history by a first-year head coach:
