Maxwell Named ACC Freshman of the Year, Trio of Deacs Tabbed with All-ACC Nods

This marks the second career All-ACC honor for Amaral and first for Maxwell and Flanagan.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Three members of the Wake Forest women's soccer team were selected for 2025 All-ACC honors, the conference office announced on Wednesday, headlined by Freshman of the Year selection for forward Kylie Maxwell. The Langhorne, Pa., native also earned spots on both the All-ACC Freshman Team and the All-ACC Third Team, joined by freshman forward Allie Flanagan on the Freshman Team and redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper Valentina Amaral on the Third Team.

Maxwell becomes just the fourth Wake Forest player to be tabbed All-ACC Freshman of the Year and first since Katie Stengel in 2010.

Kylie Maxwell | All-ACC Freshman of the Year, Freshman Team, Third Team | Forward
Maxwell finished the regular season tied for a team-best five goals, ranked second in assists and totaled a team-best 15 points. The 2025 Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year started all but one regular-season contest and recorded points in eight of them.

In her Demon Deacon debut, Maxwell scored the first goal of the season in the Deacs' opening night victory over SMU. Her two assists during the 3-2 victory over the No. 9 Duke Blue Devils, the rookie is tied fifth in program history in single-season assists for a freshman.

Additionally, the freshman was named ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week following the victory at Duke and ranked No. 1 on TopDrawerSoccer's Midseason Freshman Top 100.

Allie Flanagan | All-ACC Freshman Team | Forward
Since arriving in Winston-Salem, Flanagan has been a key member of the Demon Deacons' offense. Tabbed No. 19 on TopDrawerSoccer's Midseason Freshman Rankings, the rookie has totaled 11 points across 16 game appearances and 14 starts.

The Round Hill, Va.-native is tied with Maxwell for a team-high five goals and added her first career assist in the 2-1 victory over Pitt.

Valentina Amaral | All-ACC Third Team | Goalkeeper
Starting all regular-season contests for Wake Forest, Amaral has cemented another year as an unstoppable force in net. The Oviedo, Fla.-native has totaled six shutouts, 69 saves, and 10 wins during the 2025 campaign.

A 2024 All-ACC honoree, Amaral was also featured in TopDrawerSoccer's National Top 100 and was named ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week in the opening week of the season.

Amaral ranks fifth in the conference in shutouts per game and posted a career-high with 12 saves against the No. 6-ranked Florida State Seminoles.
