Severe Weather Shelter Indicator
The University of Virginia prides itself on providing an exciting and entertaining atmosphere for fans at Scott Stadium. Our top priority is the safety and well-being of those in attendance, from fans to student-athletes and employees.
A key part of this commitment involves closely and constantly monitoring the weather for potentially dangerous conditions. UVA employs a series of checks on weather conditions, including the use of sophisticated radar and tracking services to gauge the severity and track of storms.
Working with game officials, the University may decide to suspend a game, close and evacuate the stadium because of weather conditions. In these cases, fans initially are alerted via text alert, public announcements within Scott Stadium, local media, social media and other platforms that evacuation may be possible.
If evacuation is mandated, fans should exit the stadium and seek shelter until receiving notice that the game will be resumed and the stadium is reopened. Shelter options include personal vehicles and designated University buildings in the stadium vicinity.
In the event of an evacuation of Scott Stadium, University buildings open to fans as temporary shelters will be indicated with orange and blue signs bearing a shelter logo and the word "SHELTER" (see sample signage on the side).
Smoking
The University of Virginia prohibits smoking and vaping in all of its facilities on Grounds, including athletics facilities There are designated smoking areas at Scott Stadium's Southwest and East gates.
Solicitation & Distribution
Direct advertising, sales, and solicitation by outside vendors are not permitted on Grounds. Any distribution of materials on public property shall not disrupt University business, generate security issues, or block sidewalks or roads.
Sustainability

In partnership with the UVA Office of Sustainability, every game at Scott Stadium will be Green Game! Throughout the concourse you will find composting bins for leftover food and compostable concessions products. Student volunteers will be able to assist with sorting the products and educating fans on the composting best practices.
Tailgating
Tailgating is permitted, including the use of propane grills. Charcoal grills are not allowed. Please note that grilling of any kind is not allowed in or on any of the parking garages.
Fans are asked to not block traffic lanes within parking lots with tailgate setups. In the event of an emergency, there must be an unobstructed path for vehicles to access. Tailgate setups not in the grass/pavement/mulch area must remain within the immediate footprint of the vehicle, allowing for traffic flow through the middle lane at all times.
For the 2025 season, the quantity of free parking spaces has been reduced due to construction throughout Grounds. In the free parking lots at JPJ Arena, North Grounds and Fontaine Research Park, we ask that fans not take up multiple parking spaces with tailgate setups in order to accommodate as many fans as possible.
Premium Tailgating Packages
Virginia Athletics and REVELXP, a fan experience and hospitality company specializing in sports and entertainment, are excited to offer premium tailgate packages for the 2025 season. In addition to single-game tailgate packages for every home game, full-season bundles are also available for purchase.

The company provides all equipment needs as well as set-up and clean-up of tailgates for fans at the green space adjacent to Observatory Hill Dining Hall (525 McCormick Rd), a prime location on game days situated only yards away from Scott Stadium.

All REVELXP tailgate packages include the essentials – tent, tables and chairs – as well as premium add-ons, such as catering, TVs and more.
