Zach Tom and the Green Bay Packers earned a Thanksgiving day win to highlight Pro Deacs.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Week 13 of the 2025 NFL season signaled the return of Pro Deacs action around the league, highlighted by offensive linemen Zach Tom and the Green Bay Packers earning a win on Thanksgiving, safety Malik Mustapha continuing to make an impact for the San Francisco 49ers and a matchup between Demon Deacon alums in New York.
Tom, Packers Take Down Lions on Thanksgiving
Offensive lineman Zach Tom and the Green Bay Packers earned a much-needed victory in their push for the top-seed in the NFC North, as they defeated the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving. Overall, Tom helped the Packer offense explode for 359 yards on Thursday. Tom also allowed zero sacks, helping quarterback Jordan Love throw for 234 yards and four touchdowns. As a result, Tom earned a 74.0 offensive grade by Pro Football Focus for his performance, including a team-best 82.0 pass blocking grade.
With the win, Tom and the Packers now sit just half-a-game behind the Chicago Bears for the lead in the NFC North, who they play next week.
Mustapha Continues to Make an Impact in 49ers Win
Safety Malik Mustapha added another impact performance for the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon in their win over the Cleveland Browns. Mustapha totaled seven tackles with five solo efforts and a pass deflection as the 49er secondary held the Browns to just 115 passing yards. After missing time at the beginning of the season, Mustapha has been a pivotal part of the 49er defense, having now recorded 50 tackles with 30 solo tackles and a pair of TFLs, along with two pass defenses and an interception.
Bates III, Taylor Face Off in New York
Week 13 of the NFL season featured another matchup between Demon Deacon alums as safety Jessie Bates III and the Atlanta Falcons faced off against Ja'Sir Taylor and the New York Jets. In the end, Taylor and the Jets defeated Bates and the Falcons on a walk-off field goal, 27-24. Taylor, who was traded to the Jets from the Los Angeles Chargers earlier this season, finished the game with three tackles and a pass defense. Meanwhile, Bates totaled four tackles with three solo efforts.
Basham Signs Practice Squad Deal with Raiders
Last week, defensive end Carlos "Boogie" Basham signed a practice squad deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. Basham, who was most recently a practice squad player with the Carolina Panthers, has played a total of 43 games in his NFL career. The former 2021 second-round draft pick by the Buffalo Bills has recorded 4.5 sacks, 61 total tackles, one interception and one fumble recovery over his professional career.
