Wake Forest Forces Playoff, Tied for 15th at NCAA Championship

CARLSBAD, Calif.- Battling through the third round of the NCAA Championship, the Wake Forest men's golf team is tied for 15th place with ACC foe Georgia Tech, forcing a playoff to determine the last spot ahead of tomorrow's final round of stroke play.
A tie break will take place Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. ET, taking place on holes 1, 15, 16, 17, and 18, with all five scores counting for each team. If a tie exists after the first playoff hole, players will move to the next hole and repeat the same process. The team with the best (low) aggregate score on the five holes will advance to the final round of stroke play.
Should Wake Forest not advance, senior Marshall Meisel will advance into round four as an individual. Tee times and group pairings for the fourth round will be announced once they are made available.
After Monday's final round of stroke play, the NCAA individual champion will be crowned, and the top eight teams on the leaderboard will continue on to match play, which begins Tuesday.
Meisel carded his second under-par round in today's third round of the NCAA Championship.
The Chevy Chase, Md. native had four birdies on his first nine holes and capped the round off with one more on the second nine. Two steady rounds of five-under on day two and two-under on day three have him in contention for the NCAA individual champion title.
In round three, junior Jakob Melin carded his second round of par or better with a two-under 70, moving 44 spots up the individual leaderboard. Melin is tied for 36th place at three-over.
