Chacarra, Kovelesky sit inside the top five on the individual leaderboard.
LUBBOCK, Texas - After inclement weather bumped round one of the regionals up a day, Wake Forest leads the field of the Lubbock Regional by one stroke and sees three Deacons inside the top six.
Through the first nine holes of the day, Wake Forest sat tied for first with senior Carolina Chacarra leading the individual field at three under, after back-to-back birdies on holes 8 and 9.
Chacarra recorded the Deacs' lowest round of the day at 69 (-3) and is tied for the lead on the individual standings.
In her second collegiate regional appearance, sophomore Macy Pate completed her day in sixth with a near hole-in-one on a par three to highlight her front nine. Pate shot a clean nine holes after the turn and finished the day even par.
With two birdies on her last two holes of the day, freshman Chloe Kovelesky provided Wake Forest with another strong score in her first regional showing. Before the turn, she sat T14 and one over par, but a bogey-free back nine propelled Kovelesky into fifth place and brought her score one stroke under par.
