Stevenson Named 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Teams Nominee and Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List

Zamari Stevenson is one of a record 197 nominees on the 2025 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, representing players and coaches from colleges and universities across the country, while a record 117 nominees representing players from college football’s Football Bowl Subdivision were named to the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest football redshirt junior defensive back Zamari Stevenson was named as a nominee for both the AFCA Good Works Team and Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, as announced by the organizations.
Throughout his career, Stevenson had been a leader on and off the field being named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll four times while also being named to the 2024 All-ACC Academic Team. He was also recognized for his work in the community, being named to the 2024 ACC Top Six for Service.
Last season, Stevenson saw action in all twelve games, totaling 29 tackles on the season and one tackle-for-loss. He earned a season-high eight tackles in the victory against N.C. State. Stevenson finished the season with 19 solo and 10 assisted tackles while also tallied first career interception in victory over Stanford.
Over his career, Stevenson completed numerous community service projects and embodied the Pro Humanitate motto in the Winston-Salem community en route to being named a Good Works Team Nominee.

A key part of his volunteer efforts has been his work with Scoreboard, a nonprofit organization that fosters leadership and youth development through sports. When asked about his involvement, Stevenson expressed his passion for giving back and the profound impact he hopes to make on young lives.
Beyond Scoreboard, he has also dedicated his time to PowerCross Ministries and participated in several campus-wide initiatives, including Wake N' Shake, Pump Up for Piccolo, and Hit the Bricks, all of which raise funds for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Foundation.
In addition to his service, Stevenson has shown a strong commitment to personal and professional development. He participated in Top Hat Wednesday, a five-week program designed to provide holistic development for Wake Forest football players, equipping them for life beyond college.
Through his leadership, dedication, and service, Stevenson embodies the core values of Wake Forest University. He is a true example of leading by example and giving back to the community, and we take immense pride in all that he has accomplished—and all that he will continue to achieve in the future.
About the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team
The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team was established in 1992 by the College Football Association, recognizing the extra efforts made by college football players and student support staff off the field. AFCA became the governing body of the award in 1997 and continues to honor college football players who go the extra mile for those in need. Allstate worked to present the award starting with the 2008 season.
The Southeastern Conference (SEC) leads all conferences with 89 selections to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team since it began in 1992. The SEC is followed by the Atlantic Coast Conference with 55 selections and the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with 43 selections. Georgia is in first place with 24 honorees to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The Bulldogs are followed by Kentucky and Bethel (Minn.) with 18 honorees.

Established in 2005, the Wuerffel Trophy is celebrating its 21st anniversary this year. Wuerffel led the University of Florida to four SEC Championships and the 1996 National Championship. As a humanitarian, he continues to inspire leaders to positively impact their communities. Danny currently serves as President of the Wuerffel Foundation and Executive Director of Desire Street Ministries. An avid pickleball player, he was drafted as a professional within the National Pickleball League and hosts celebrity pro-am "PickleBowl" tournaments.
