WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest football alum Brandon Chubb ('16), who spent four seasons in NFL and was recently announced as a member of the 2026 Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame class, will serve as the Open the Gate honoree during the Demon Deacons' week five matchup against Georgia Tech on Saturday, Sept. 27, inside Allegacy Stadium.
During his time with the Demon Deacons, Chubb recorded 326 career tackles, which ranks 12th all-time in Wake Forest football program history. In addition, Chubb totaled 20 tackles-for-loss, 3.5 sacks, an interception return for a touchdown, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery across four seasons.
Chubb particularly made a name for himself during his final two seasons in the Old Gold and Black. As a redshirt junior, Chubb recorded a career-high 109 tackles, which included career-highs in solo tackles (53) and sacks (3), while also forcing two fumbles and adding seven tackles-for-loss. The following season, Chubb led the Deacs with 107 tackles with 52 solo efforts and a career-high nine tackles for loss. As a result, Chubb was named First Team All-ACC for the 2015 season.
After wrapping up his career with Wake Forest, Chubb went undrafted during the 2016 NFL Draft before signing with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent. Chubb would go on to spend four seasons in the NFL, primarily serving as a practice squad player. During his four seasons, he signed practice squad deals with six teams, including the Rams, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Tennessee Titans, Indianapolis Colts, and Carolina Panthers.
Following his retirement from the NFL, Chubb has continued to give back to the game as he is currently serving as a Player Director for the NFL Players Association, a role that he has held since 2021. He also co-founded The Chubb Foundation with his brother, Bradley, focusing on education, mentorship, and community development in the Atlanta and Denver areas.
On August 22, it was announced that Chubb would be one of the eight members of the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2026, which includes Jim Grobe, Jeff Teague, Dearica Hamby, Lisa Stockton, James Riley, Anna Kozniuk, and Gil McGregor.
