Wake Forest and NC State have faced off against each other 118 times, making it the second-longest consecutively played game in the country
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest football team renews a Big Four rivalry against NC State on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. ET inside Allegacy Stadium on ESPN.
The two schools first met in 1895 and have played each other every season since 1910.
Wake Forest took home a thrilling 34-30 victory last season inside Carter-Finley Stadium. Running back Demond Claiborne rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns, as well as a receiving touchdown, to lead the Wake Forest offense. Linebacker Branson Combs sealed the win with an interception on NC State's final drive of the game.
Over the past 10 meetings, the Deacs and the Wolfpack are tied with both teams winning five times over that span.
The Demon Deacons are 3-2 at home since 2015 against the in-state foe, with their most recent victory at home coming in 2021, 45-42. Quarterback Sam Hartman threw for 290 yards and three touchdowns, while adding a score on the ground, to lead Wake Forest to the win.
The series between Wake Forest and NC State is tied at 12-12 since 2001.
