Running back Kenneth Walker III and the Seattle Seahawks bested defensive lineman Kobie Turner and the Los Angeles Rams to earn a spot in the Super Bowl to highlight this edition of Pro Deacs.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Pro Deacs made its return once again during conference championship weekend, highlighted by running back Kenneth Walker III and the Seattle Seahawks besting defensive lineman Kobie Turner and the Los Angeles Rams to book their spot in the Super Bowl.
Walker and Turner Battle for Super Bowl Berth
The NFC Championship featured a matchup between two former Wake Forest football greats, with running back Kenneth Walker III and the top-seeded Seattle Seahawks hosting defensive lineman Kobie Turner and the Los Angeles Rams for a spot in the Super Bowl. Ultimately, Walker and the Seahawks defeated the Rams by a score of 31-27 to win the NFC Championship and earn a berth in the Super Bowl. Walker finished the game with 19 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown that opened the scoring in the first quarter. Walker also added four catches for 49 yards against the Rams.
Over the course of Seattle's two playoff games, Walker has rushed the ball 38 times for 178 yards and four touchdowns. The fourth-year pro has also caught seven passes for 78 yards to help lead the Seahawks to their first Super Bowl appearance since 2015. With the victory, the Seahawks will now face off against the New England Patriots in a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Turner ended the afternoon with two solo efforts against Seattle. Turned ended the playoffs with five tackles with three solo efforts. This comes after he logged 48 tackles with 24 solo tackles and seven sacks, as well as an interception and a fumble recovery, during the regular season.
Strnad, Denver Fall Short in AFC Championship
Linebacker Justin Strnad and the top-seeded Denver Broncos fell just short in a defensive battle during the AFC Championship on Sunday. Strnad finished the game with three tackles, which brought him to four total tackles during Denver's playoff run. Overall, Strnad ended his fifth season in the NFL with another successful year as he recorded 58 tackles with 23 solo tackles and a career-high 4.5 sacks, along with his first career interception, during the regular season.
