Krueger and Sullivan recognized by UniGol, while Debah earns TopDrawerSoccer honors
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Three members of the Wake Forest men's soccer team earned national recognition following a pair of victories last week, as defenders Daniel Krueger and Mason Sullivan were named to UniGol's National Team of the Week, while forward Alfred Debah earned a spot on TopDrawerSoccer's weekly squad.
The Demon Deacons earned a 3-1 victory over UNC Asheville before closing the week with a 2-0 clean sheet win over Syracuse on Saturday, with all three honorees making significant contributions to the team's success.
Krueger found the back of the net in Wake Forest's victory over Syracuse, breaking a scoreless deadlock in the 77th minute to put the Deacs in front with a header. The junior center back anchored the Wake Forest back line throughout both victories and completed 96.6 percent of his passes across the two matches, connecting on 171 of 177 attempts, while also recording 13 interceptions.
Sullivan also delivered at both ends of the field, scoring in the closing moments of Wake Forest's 3-1 win over UNC Asheville with a perfectly executed free kick. The centerback helped lead a defensive effort that conceded just one goal across the two victories, while completing 92 percent of his passes over the two-match stretch and winning 21 of his 29 duels.
Debah capped the week with a goal in the 85th minute against Syracuse, doubling the Deacs' lead and helping secure the shutout victory. The sophomore midfielder also recorded two assists in the win over UNC Asheville, finishing the week with three goal contributions across the two matches. His efforts earned recognition on TopDrawerSoccer's Men's Team of the Week.
The three selections continue a strong stretch for Wake Forest, which combined timely attacking contributions with a solid defensive performance to secure consecutive wins.
