Deacs Complete Round One of The Prestige

Second round tee times begin at 9:45 a.m. ET.
LA QUINTA, Calif. – Battling challenging weather conditions, the No. 25 Wake Forest men's golf team wrapped up round one of The Prestige at PGA West on Monday.
The Deacs opened with a 299 (+15) and currently sit 19th overall. Only three teams in the 24-team field finished the first round below par.
Senior Boyd Owens led the way for the Deacs on day one of The Prestige, carding a two-over round to sit tied for 42nd.
Senior Jakob Melin made the turn at one-under and tallied three birdies in his opening round, finishing the day tied for 56th at three-over.
Playing as individuals, Kyle Haas is tied for eighth at one-under par, while Lorenzo Rodriguez is T14 at two-over par.
Round Two Tee Times (ET)
Teams will play the second round on Tuesday, February 17, with tee times starting at 9:45 a.m. ET. The Deacs will be paired with players from Stanford and Texas Tech. Individuals will begin round two with tee times starting at 11:00 a.m. ET.

"We've had very little go wrong so far this year. It was a very challenging day with windy and rainy conditions, and the course played very difficult for the afternoon wave. It would've been nice to play in the morning, but we'll have great weather tomorrow morning and we'll be ready to play. We only made five birdies today and that's not going to get it done as a team. Looking for a nice rebound tomorrow for the Demon Deacons. Go Deacs!"
