ProDeacs Prepped for Second NSL Season, Johnson Starts Year with Vikingur FC

Small was named captain of AFC Toronto in just her second season with the squad this past week.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – While the NWSL and USL leagues dive further into their seasons in the U.S., Canada's premier soccer league begins its second season as a league with ProDeacs Nikki Small and Mariah Lee at the helm.
Additionally, Kristin Johnson, a member of the 2024 college cup team, is set for her season with Vikingur Reykjavik. A native of Iceland, Johnson tallied one goal and 907 minutes in 2025, in 11 appearances. The team wrapped the previous season in fifth place in the standings with an 8-1-9 record, and ended the year on a five-game win streak.

Nikayla Small ('24) and Mariah Lee ('18) are set for their second season in the NSL, following an inaugural season that saw the two Deacs face off in the championship final.
A member of the Vancouver Rise, Lee helped the team to its first ever championship, defeating AFC Toronto 2-1 in the final match. The Covington, Wash.-native totaled over 1,400 minutes for Rise FC with five goals and an assist.
Recently named captain of the Roses, Small made appearances in all 25 matches during the 2025 season. Her efforts led the squad to the NSL Regular Season title and Supporters' Shield. In her first season as a professional, the midfielder recorded over 2,000 minutes with six goals and four assists.
The two teams kickoff their season in a NSL Final Rematch at Swangard Stadium.
