SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Wake Forest men's basketball team will take on UMass in the 2026 Basketball Hall of Fame Classic on Sunday, Dec. 6 at the MassMutual Center in Springfield, Mass.
The neutral site matchup will be the third all-time meeting between the two programs, with the series currently tied at 1-1. The Demon Deacons earned a 71-47 victory over the Minutemen in the most recent matchup on Dec. 14, 1996 in Winston-Salem.
UMass head coach Frank Martin enters his fifth season at the helm of a program that has seen steady progress under his leadership. Last season, the Minutemen handed the last remaining unbeaten team, Miami (OH), its first defeat of the season in the MAC quarterfinals.
The Minutemen have also found recent success in the Hall of Fame Classic, as they have won two out of the last three against Power Four opponents in Boston College (2025) and West Virginia (2023).
Wake Forest is coming off its third postseason appearance over the last five seasons, as the Deacs earned a No. 1 seed in the NIT and defeated Navy in the first round of the tournament.
Tip time and television information for this year's matchup – along with additional schedule announcements – will be made at a later date. Tickets go on sale Friday, Sept. 11, at massmutualcenter.com.
This is the second announced game of the 2026-27 season for the Demon Deacons, as Wake Forest and West Virginia will conclude a two-year neutral site series on Saturday, Dec. 19 at the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.
