Former Wake Forest Football Standout Warren Belin Passes Away

Warren Belin, a four-year letterman for the Demon Deacons football program and a former assistant coach, was awarded the 2025 Pete Moffitt Courage Award.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest Athletics mourns the loss of former football standout Warren Belin, a Demon Deacon whose perseverance and spirit served as an inspiration for countless individuals.
In 2025, Belin was awarded the Pete Moffitt Courage Award, presented annually to a former Wake Forest student-athlete, coach, or administrator who has displayed exceptional courage in facing personal challenges, while continuing to embody the determination and resilience that define Wake Forest Athletics.
Belin courageously battled stage four pancreatic cancer in a fight marked by extraordinary resilience and grace that reflects the very values the Pete Moffitt Courage Award was created to honor. Belin became the 13th recipient of the distinguished award.
A 1990 Wake Forest graduate, Belin competed as a linebacker for the football program for four seasons, finishing his career with 236 tackles in 30 starts. Following his playing days, Belin transitioned to the coaching ranks in a career that spanned 30-plus years:
