Midfielder Rooney Osei Joins Wake Forest

He becomes the ninth addition to Bobby Muuss’ 2026 signing class.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest men's soccer head coach Bobby Muuss announced the addition of midfielder Rooney Osei to the roster ahead of the 2026 season.
A defensive-minded midfielder with international experience, Osei brings a physical presence, technical quality and competitive edge to Wake Forest's midfield unit. Known for his ability to break lines and impact matches on both ends of the pitch, Osei adds another dynamic piece to the Deacs' roster entering the fall campaign.
"We cannot wait to get started with Rooney here at Wake Forest," Muuss said. "He is a super talented young man that brings international experience, grit, and a true fighting football mentality to our program. Rooney has the technical ability to fit extremely well into our style of play with his ability to break lines and impact the game on both sides of the ball."
Osei has spent the last two years with Asanska FC and recently earned a runner-up finish in the GARFA Division Two - Zone 5 league, where he earned five man of the match honors throughout the campaign.
Osei is expected to bolster Wake Forest's midfield depth with his defensive instincts, ball-winning ability and composure in possession. His versatility and relentless work rate align closely with the high-energy style that has become a hallmark of the Demon Deacons under Muuss.

A native of Ghana, Osei becomes the latest addition to a Wake Forest program that currently sits ninth in TopDrawerSoccer's recruiting rankings.
