Sythe Named Back-to-Back ACC Defensive Player of the Week

Sythe’s lone goal against Old Dominion led the Deacs to their fourth-consecutive win this past Sunday.
CHARLOTTE – Earning her second weekly award, redshirt-junior Sierra Sythe has been named ACC Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Sythe was key to last Sunday's victory over Old Dominion, recording the game-winning goal in the 68th minute. A foul drawn at the top of the box set the defender up in perfect position to net her first goal of the season.
In tandem with her offensive skills, Sythe went the full 90 across both games this past week. Against the Monarchs, she played on a backline that allowed just five shots, staying vigilant in their defensive end.
The Long Beach, Calif.-native marks her second weekly nod, after earning Defensive POTW this past week. Sythe's backline and the efforts of the Demon Deacons have seen them record four-straight shutouts, and are the only team in the ACC to do so through four games.
