The 2027 schedule features an international opener in Toronto against Syracuse, home Big Four showdowns with North Carolina and NC State, and the Duke’s Mayo Classic matchup with Notre Dame in Charlotte.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Get excited, Deacon Nation! In conjunction with the Atlantic Coast Conference, Wake Forest football announced its opponents for the 2027 football season.
Wake Forest will open the 2027 season with an international showdown against ACC opponent Syracuse on Saturday, August 28 from BMO Field in Toronto. The Demon Deacons will serve as the designated home team, and the game will be televised on either ABC or ESPN in the United States. The matchup will take place in conjunction with the 2027 Canadian National Exhibition, providing significant additional exposure for Wake Forest, Syracuse and the ACC.
Wake Forest's non-conference schedule will include matchups with Campbell on Thursday, Sept. 2, and Tulane on Saturday, Sept. 18 from Allegacy Financial Stadium, along with a neutral site matchup with Notre Dame on Saturday, Oct. 9 in the 2027 Duke's Mayo Classic from Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
The Demon Deacons will welcome several premier ACC opponents to Winston-Salem, including Big Four rivals North Carolina and NC State along with Georgia Tech and Cal.
The 2027 schedule also features a blend of historic rivalries and new destinations. Wake Forest will travel as an ACC opponent to Pitt for the first time since the Panthers joined the league in 2013, while also making road appearances at Clemson, Virginia Tech and Boston College.
2027 Neutral Site Opponents
Wake Forest and Syracuse will meet in the first college football game played at BMO Field on Saturday, Aug. 28. The matchup will take place in the midst of the Canadian National Exhibition – Canada's largest festival with 150 years of history.
This will mark just the second-ever game played outside of the United States for the Demon Deacons, as Wake Forest faced off with Clemson in the 1982 Mirage Bowl which was contested on Nov. 28, 1982 at the Tokyo Olympic Memorial Stadium.
Home to Major League Soccer's Toronto FC and the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts, BMO Field is one of Canada's premier venues and has hosted numerous events including the 2016 Grey Cup, 2016 MLS Cup and the 2014 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup. This past summer, BMO Field served as one of 16 sites for the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup.

Wake Forest, Notre Dame to Clash in 2027 Duke's Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium
Wake Forest football will take on Notre Dame in the 2027 Duke's Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium. The game is part of the existing ACC–Notre Dame scheduling agreement and will be played on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2027. The Deacs' last appearance in Charlotte was a thrilling 43-29 victory over Mississippi State in the 2025 Duke's Mayo Bowl to cap off the winningest first-year by a head coach in program history for Jake Dickert.
Wake Forest's longtime presence in the Queen City was bolstered in 2025 with the official opening of The Pearl, a new 26-acre innovation district and home to the second campus of the Wake Forest University School of Medicine — the first and only four-year medical school in Charlotte — and the headquarters of Advocate Health, the third-largest nonprofit healthcare system in America.
