Mednard Earns First Senior Haiti National Team Call-Up

The Wake Forest goalkeeper will be with the squad for four Concacaf Nations League matches.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest men's soccer goalkeeper Jonah Mednard has earned his first call-up to the senior Haiti Men's National Team, the Haitian Football Federation announced, playing a part in four Concacaf Nations League group stage matches.
"This is an incredible honor and a dream come true for me and my family," Mednard said. "As a first-generation American, this opportunity means even more because I know I'm representing more than just myself. I get to represent my family, my Haitian roots and everyone who has supported me throughout my journey."
Mednard started the first eight matches for Wake Forest this season, recording 29 saves with a .784 save percentage, both rank top three in the ACC. He has helped lead the Deacs to two solo clean sheets and combined with Quinn Syrett for another. Most recently, he came up huge and saved a penalty to keep the match level against conference foe Virginia, allowing the Deacs to snatch the victory with 14 seconds left.
"We are thrilled for Jonah and proud to see him earn this opportunity with Haiti's senior national team," head coach Bobby Muuss said. "Representing your country at the highest level is a tremendous honor. While the timing presents challenges during our college season, which continues through the international break, we recognize how meaningful this opportunity is for him. We'll be following Jonah and the team closely and supporting him throughout his time away."
Mednard's current campaign comes after a breakout 2025 season in which he started all 17 matches and logged 1,438 minutes in goal. He made a career-high six saves in five different matches, including road ACC contests at North Carolina, California and Pitt. His performance at Pitt, which featured a remarkable triple-save following a penalty, earned the No. 1 play on SportsCenter's Top 10.
Through his first three seasons at Wake Forest, Mednard has started 25 of his 27 career appearances, totaling 2,141 minutes, 82 saves, a .713 career save percentage and a 1.39 career goals-against average, having seen steady progression throughout under the direction of goalkeeping coach Dane Brenner and head coach Bobby Muuss.
A native of Congers, N.Y., Mednard came to Wake Forest following a standout youth career with the New York City FC Academy and Cedar Stars Bergen. He was an MLS NEXT All-Star, a two-time State Cup winner and spent time on trial with Paris Saint-Germain FC. He was rated the No. 3 prospect in New Jersey and the No. 11 goalkeeper nationally in the 2023 recruiting class.
Haiti is coming off of its second-ever World Cup appearance and first since the 1974 edition in Germany. They have been placed in Group A of the Nations League alongside Costa Rica, Curaçao, Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Trinidad & Tobago.
Mednard was on the bench for Haiti's thrilling 3-2 comeback win on Thursday night against Trinidad & Tobago. Les Grenadiers have three more matches during the window with two against Costa Rica on Sept. 27 (7 p.m.) and Oct. 4 (8 p.m.) with a clash against the Dominican Republic in the middle on Oct. 1 (8 p.m.).
The standout missed Friday night's victory over NC State and will miss two more Wake Forest matches (Loyola Chicago, SMU) while representing Haiti before returning to Winston-Salem and rejoining his teammates for a big road matchup against Boston College on Oct. 9.
