About Thompson: All-ACC candidate... moved up front after spending most of career on the flank... developing into one of the most dynamic attacking players in the ACC... a hard-working front runner that is at his best when running at defenders.
In 2005: Played in all 23 games and started 21... scored seven goals and added four assists for a total of 18 points... led the Deacons in shots (49) and was tied for the team-lead in goals... recorded his first career two-goal match against St. Joseph[apos]s on Sept. 20... also tallied goals against Rutgers on Sept. 11, Duke on Sept. 18, Boston College on Nov. 8 and Old Dominion in the NCAA Tournament on Nov. 22... registered the gamewinning assist against Virginia Tech on Sept. 23 and UNCG on Oct. 26... had assists in back-to-back games against South Carolina on Sept. 9 and Rutgers on Sept. 11.
In 2004: Played in 19 games and started nine... started seven of the Deacs final nine games of the season... totaled five points on two goals and one assist... registered 18 shots... both goals (Loyola Marymount and Virginia Tech) proved to be eventual gamewinners... added only assist of season in NCAA Tournament third round game against VCU on Nov. 27.
In 2003: Played in 14 games and started 12 for the Demon Deacons... started each of the final seven matches... recorded a pair of assists on the season... tallied 10 shots on goal... first assist came in the 5-1 victory over High Point on Oct. 7... other assist came in the 3-1 victory over Duke in the ACC Tournament... named to the ACC All-Freshman Team.
Prep: An All-North Carolina first team selection as a junior and senior at Forsyth Country Day in Lewisville under coach Chris Turner... an all-conference and all-region selection... led the 1983 Winston-Salem Twins Club Team to a U-18 championship at the Tampa Bay Sun Bowl international tournament... the tournament[apos]s leading scorer and was selected most valuable player... an original member of the [apos]83 Twins Premier club.
Personal: A political science major... chose Wake Forest over South Carolina, South Florida, Davidson, Dartmouth and Brown... born Nov. 25, 1983 in Winston-Salem, N.C. ... the son of Mark & Kathryn Thompson.
