Thousands of young athletes seek medical treatment every year for elbow and shoulder injuries, with many occurring among baseball pitchers, according to the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. To help identify the causes of many of these injuries and find ways to prevent them from occurring in the first place, Wake Forest Athletics and Wake Forest Baptist Health have partnered on a new state-of-the-art pitching lab. The biomechanics lab is one of the first of its kind in the United States and integrates the Wake Forest athletic department with the sports medicine experts at Wake Forest Baptist.
The Wake Forest Pitching Lab is THE training destination for elite pitchers. Our state-of-the-art facility, cutting edge technology and expert staff enable us to perform a comprehensive evaluation and analysis of a pitcher’s mechanics and develop customized training programs aimed at reducing the risk of injury and enhancing performance.
Our vision is to transform the future of baseball by combining baseball, science and medicine to revolutionize the way pitching mechanics are analyzed and taught.

Currently, the Pitching Lab is only open to Wake Forest University student-athletes. We anticipate that around June 1, 2019, we will open our doors to the public. At that time, we will be accepting applications from high schools and travel baseball teams in groups of 10-20 pitchers. It is uncertain as to when we will be opening our doors to individual amateur pitchers, but it will not likely be in 2019. If you're interested in bringing a team, please contact Tom Walter at waltertf@wfu.edu.
