Wake Forest 22nd In Sears Directors' Cup Standings
Jan. 3, 2000 WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest University stands 22nd among all Division I-A schools in the latest edition of the Sears Directors' Cup Standings, released by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) on December 30th. The standings reflect the completion of fall competition in men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, field hockey, women's volleyball and water polo. For the Sears Directors' Cup, points are awarded based on each institution's NCAA finish in up to 20 sports - 10 for men and 10 for women. Each national champion receives 100 points. Wake Forest earned a total of 120 points based on the play of its field hockey and men's and women's soccer team in 1999 NCAA Tournament competition. Stanford currently leads the Division I-A standings with 385 points. The final fall standings for will be released on January 6th.
